The nation commemorates today, June 19, the 140th birth anniversary of national hero Dr. Jose Rizal.
Simple rites are slated at 8 a.m. today at the Rizal Shrine in Calamba, Laguna, Rizal's birth place; at the Rizal Monument in Manila; and at the Rizal Shrine in Fort Santiago, Intramuros, Manila, where he spent his last days before his execution on Dec. 30, 1896.
Expected to lead the rites are National Historical Institute (NHI) Chairman Dr. Pablo Trillana as well as officials of the Knights of the Grand Order of Rizal. The events are held in cooperation with ...
