In the quiet that is normally deafening around the stud farms of racing, one wonders whether Sadler's Wells might have felt a twinge of excitement at around 4pm on Saturday.
While he was in his box, waiting for the next mare to arrive - at a cost of about pounds 160,000 - one of his progeny was covering the most famous mile-and-a-half of Flat racing in the second fastest time in the history of the race.
