When you were born, you looked a lot like your mom or dad. Anyone could see that you were a young human.
When most insects hatch, the little larvae don't look anything like the adults they will become. They'll go through some amazing changes before they turn into adults.
The ladybug larva at right looks more like a caterpillar than a ladybug. When it hatched, it was very tiny. As it grew, its skin got too tight. It split its skin and crawled out of it three times-- whenever the skin no longer fit. Then it made even bigger changes. Just watch!
