A PSEUDOMORPH FROM MALAWI
Beginning about 1991, spectacular specimens of aegirine in sharp, lustrous, and exceptionally large crystals from Mount Malosa, Zomba Plateau, Malawi, began to appear at mineral shows. The continued availability of fine specimens of aegirine, along with numerous associated minerals (at least a dozen), has made this locality one of the most productive and interesting of the last decade. The minerals occur in a syenite/alkaline granite intrusive complex that was described by Petersen and Grossmann (Mineralogical Record 25:29-35, 38; 1994).
