Haphazard bookkeeping, not theft, accounted for financial troubles at a South Side Madison neighborhood center earlier this year, a city audit released Wednesday showed.
"This removes part of the cloud that was over the center," said Mark Hazelbaker, president of the nonprofit Friends of the Center board of directors. "It just says You're stupid, not criminal.' "
