BANJARMASIN, INDONESIA -- Pathologists struggled Monday to identify burned corpses pulled from a shopping mall set ablaze during an election riot, trapping looters inside. Relatives prayed missing loved ones were not among the dead.

Police said at least 137 people died in the riot and mall fire Friday in Banjarmasin, a city of 500,000 on the island of Borneo some 560 miles northeast of Jakarta.

Friday was the final day of the 27-day campaign for Thursday's parliamentary elections. In all, 269 people have been killed in campaign violence, the Indonesian Times newspaper ...
