Dr. Paige Hall Smith, an assistant professor of public health education at UNCG, has received a $42,243 grant to study the problem of substance abuse among battered women.
Smith's study is titled "Demand and Needs Assessment: Alcohol and Other Drugs." The grant is from the non-profit group Research Triangle Institute through the N.C. Division of Mental Health, Developmental Disabilities and Substance Abuse Services.
