Stan Getz, whose soaring, swooping tenor saxophone delighted millions, died in mid-1991, but his genius fortunately keeps reappearing on new compact disc releases. The latest evidence of Getz's brilliance is a new CD from Concord Records that showcases two Getz small-group concerts in Scotland and Denmark in 1989.

The CD is titled "Stan Getz - Soul Eyes," the latter being the name of a Mal Waldron tune that Getz and his accompanists massage for almost eight minutes. Kenny Barron plays piano on all eight numbers, and the ...
