Congratulations to Philip Clarke for his excellent article on the 1968 Tet Offensive in Vietnam. As a career Army officer who was there, I was shocked to learn that many Americans believed the Tet offensive was a military defeat. To the contrary, the attacks were fully met and the enemy was soundly defeated. The cost to the North Vietnamese was a horrendous 45,000 casualties plus massive material losses.
