The year 2000 is 17 months away, and the "Millennium Bug" computer syndrome is looming large in the minds of many. Some folks believe the glitch will end civilization as we know it.
Rumors abound. One has it that computer programmers, knowing the bug can't be fixed in time to avert a worldwide disaster, are fleeing the cities for secure, solar-powered compounds in the Southwest or the upper Great Plains.
