UNITED WAY INCREASES CAMPAIGN GOAL THE UNITED WAY OF ROCKINGHAM COUNTY IS SEEKING $1.2 MILLION IN ITS FIRST CAMPAIGN SINCE IT UNIFIED ITS TWO AGENCIES.(ROCKINGHAM)

WENTWORTH -- United Way of Rockingham County opens its 1998 campaign with two messages this week: This is the first fund-raiser since they formed one agency for all of Rockingham County, and this year's effort is designed in part to offset costs from the March tornado.

The campaign goal of $1.2 million marks a 9 percent increase over last year's campaign in part because of the massive outpouring of aid United Way agencies committed after the tornado in western Rockingham County.
