BIRMINGHAM'S bid to become home of the national stadium received a massive boost last night - from Britain's professional football clubs themselves,

An exclusive Sunday Mercury poll found that almost 90 per cent believed the Second City would make an ideal home for England's leading sporting venue.

Astonishingly, our survey of all 92 Premiership and Nationwide clubs reveals that THIRTEEN London and southern teams back plans to move the stadium from Wembley.

It is remarkable backing for the proposal to build the venue on a site ...
