COMMONWEALTH FEDERAL REPORTS RECORD RETAINED EARNINGS IN 1988

VALLEY FORGE, Pa., Feb. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Commonwealth Federal, one of the largest thrifts in Pennsylvania, today reported record retained earnings of $81,363,000 for 1988, according to Matthew T. Welde, chairman and chief executive officer of Commonwealth Federal.

The figures released today are from the annual audited statement for the year 1988 with unqualified certification by Arthur Andersen & Co.
