The U.S. Department of Energy is expanding its medical surveillance program to include former Chicago-area workers who may have been exposed to beryllium dust or fumes in their work.
Over the next two weeks, the DOE former employees program will contact:
-- 461 employees from DOE's Argonne National Laboratory near Darien;
-- 18 from DOE's Argonne's site in Idaho;
-- 226 from Site B Metallurgical Laboratory- part of the World War II-era
