CHURCH BATTLING CRIME ST. SIMON'S DONATES $1,000 TO SUB-STATION.(CENTRAL ZONE)

A Lincoln Heights church has donated $1,000 to the community's police department sub-station on Jackson Street, which opened in January to help combat crime and drug trafficking.

Village Council members passed legislation last week to accept the donation from the St. Simon of Cyrene Episcopal Church on Matthews Drive, said Village Manager Laverne Mitchell.

The donation was made as a part of the church's outreach program, Ms. Mitchell said.
