Guangzhou Marine Geological Survey Bureau has recently made seismic prospecting and profile survey in the Yellow Sea and discovered structures favorable to oil/gas accumulation in the depression zone in the north of the South Yellow Sea.
The survey analysis and comprehensive evaluation show that oil/gas resources in the South Yellow Sea are around 2.0 - 2.8 billion tons. Experts say that the discovery has enabled China to establish another large oil/gas exploration zone during the Tenth Five-year Plan period (from 2001 to 2005).
