Rene Bourque certainly has an interesting background.

His father, Gary, is of the Metis (may-tee) people, descendants of the European fur traders who infiltrated Western Canada and married into native cultures.

His father and mother, Barbara, have had two sets of twins. Rene is the twin of sister Chantal, and he also has twin sisters four years his elder, Kim and Nadia.

"I guess it's weird -- it's not the odds that you're supposed to get," Bourque said, noting that his father has twin brothers. "But I like it."
