CENTENNIAL -- Randy Pye shepherded a grass-roots movement that became the metro area's fourth-largest city. Now he's mayor.

Pye captured 81 percent of the mayoral vote Tuesday in a landslide defeat of his two challengers, James K. Loomis Sr. and Paul Laux.

``I think what happened tonight was the mandate that the citizens gave us in September when they approved the city,'' Pye said as supporters filed by to offer congratulations. ``I want to make sure that the promises I made the community are kept.''
