Medication may stabilize, but it is love that heals.
A FEW WEEKS AGO, SOMEONE hung a poster in the lobby of the psychiatric clinic where I work. The poster came from one of the pharmaceutical representatives who visit us regularly, bearing gifts--pens, notepads, calendars, clocks--embossed with the name of whatever medication they are peddling. Their debris flows through the clinic more efficiently than the stale air that fights through the grates of our buildings outdated heating system. Today, for example, I'm writing with a Prozac pen on a Risperdal notepad.
