IN COCAINE/PRESCRIPTION TRANQUILIZER ABUSE

SAN FRANCISCO, Nov. 16 /PRNewswire/ -- Prescription tranquilizers are being used increasingly on the street to ease the "crash" from a cocaine high, according to a study to be released Thursday, Nov. 17 by the Haight Ashbury Free Clinic.

The study, which surveyed chemical dependency programs nationwide, documented a sharp upswing in cocaine use accompanied by the use of benzodiazepine tranquilizers such as Valium(R), Xanax(R) and Ativan(R). Study results ...
