In many ways, it was a typical Saturday night at the New Loft Teen Center, 112 N. Fairchild St.

For five hours, more than 100 teenagers from around Dane County played pool and video games, snacked, lounged on couches, rubbed fake tattoos on their arms and danced to local bands.

But looks can be deceiving.

Even if many of the teenagers at Saturday's show didn't know it until they got there, they were making Madison history.
