Minnesota's bald eagle population, once shrinking and in peril from an assortment of man-made threats, has continued a remarkable rebound and now numbers at least 700 breeding pairs - an all-time high and the fourth-highest eagle population in the United States.
Not only have the state's eagle numbers more than doubled in the past 13 years, but the nation's symbol has shown a remarkable ability to adapt to human pressures and expand into areas where eagles previously were rare, including agricultural regions.
