It is not just headline-catching car builders who are curbing their costs by buying components from countries with cheaper currencies and wage costs.
All sorts of engineering and textile companies have countered the strong pound this way. Some of the larger ones have encouraged their own suppliers to do likewise. Others built their own factories overseas for the purpose.
