CHESAPEAKE -- Jacques-Yves Cousteau, the explorer and conservationist world-famous for his French accent and trademark red cap, was best known to Americans for his television shows about life under the sea.
But friends and colleagues at the Cousteau Society headquarters in Chesapeake, who refer to him as ``The Captain,'' say Cousteau's legacy is environmental stewardship.
