Blame it on the ancient Egyptians. They considered cats sacred. Cats liked the idea so much that they still think so today.
Recent TV commercials have made me aware of this. Almost every other TV ad has a dog in it being attentive or loving or smart. But TV cats are usually demanding or snooty. Like the cat who locks out his owner until she buys the right kind of litter. Or the unbearably uppity cat waiting for dinner delivered in a crystal goblet. You can almost hear it saying ``Hustle your butt, peasant. You exist to serve me.''
