WHEN DEBRA J. ALECK heard about a forum bringing together Jewish women in Hampton Roads to share ideas and concerns, she knew she had to be there.

For years she had been on a journey to rediscover her religion and culture, but for the most part it had been a solitary voyage. Then came this chance to learn with others.

``I rearranged my schedule,'' said Aleck, a 37-year-old podiatrist with offices in Portsmouth and Suffolk. ``It looked like a phenomenal program.''
