NORFOLK -- With rising numbers of children suspected of having attention disorders, school personnel and doctors at a forum Thursday said they need to work more closely together to diagnose and treat students.

Attention disorders have become a major health issue for school nurses. In some South Hampton Roads districts, pupils use the stimulant Ritalin at two to three times the national rate.
