She was a painter, a poet and a composer. Her advice was sought by bishops and popes. Yet, like many career women, she was sometimes unsure of herself, and she didn't find the confidence to start writing until she was 40.
Growing numbers of Christians today, and especially women, feel a kinship with St. Hildegard von Bingen, even though she lived 900 years ago. Her fans today will celebrate her feast day, recalling a remarkable life forgotten for centuries.
