NASHVILLE, TENN. -- Celecoxib, technically a sulfonamide, should not be
automatically contraindicated in patients with a history of allergy to sulfa drugs, Dr. Neil H. Shear said at the American Academy of Dermatology's Academy 2000.
"The contraindication label on celecoxib is clearly inappropriate. It is not based on clinical evidence. It is not science based at all. It is a regulatory stipulation.
