The number of American children without health insurance is increasing, even though most of their parents are working.

According to a study by the Families USA Foundation, a health care advocacy organization, an estimated 23 million children - one of every three in the country - went without health insurance for one month or longer during 1995-96.

One fourth of Ohio's children - an estimated 773,000 - were uninsured during the period. Ohio had the 7th highest number of uninsured children among the states and ranked 43rd in ...
