ATHENS -- Some feminist groups are up in arms over the government's decision to introduce compulsory enlistment of women in local militia groups.

Around 3,000 women currently serve in the Greek armed forces; the new bill, hatched by the top military brass, would require all women aged between 18 and 50 to join the corps, now named the Universal Defense Force.
