Pipe smoking is making a comeback.
''We're selling twice as many pipes and twice as much pipe tobacco as a few years ago,'' says Jim Clark, owner of Straus Tobacconist, downtown.
''A lot of cigar smokers are moving to pipes and our pipe tobacco sales are going up,'' notes Kathy Singer of the Smoke Store in Clifton.
The smoking shop operators say a big reason for the renewed interest in pipes seems to be the huge variety of flavored pipe tobacco that's available.
