SAN JOSE, Calif. -- Tomorrow's soldier may carry a computer on his back, a TV camera atop his gun and a miniature TV screen in front of one eye.

In hostile territory, the soldier may press a few buttons on his chest to call up maps on the screen that display his position and that of enemy troops.

The ``Land Warrior'' outfit was just one of the wares on display at a conference here last week that had less to do with trench warfare than with Star Trek.
