The adage, ``A thing of beauty is a joy forever,'' sometimes isn't true.
Although we'd like to have Bradford Rhea's living tree sculptures remain joys forever, some of his things of beauty are on Sterling's endangered species list.
Rhea knew when he started sculpting his inspirational and whimsical designs into diseased and dying trees here that his art was blessed with the mortality of all living things. And though it took up to 200 hours to carve one tree, Rhea wanted to give life where there was only lifelessness.
