The new beginning will include a welcome flashback for Colorado Rockies second baseman Mike Lansing, an opportunity to assume again the role of mentor as he interacts with shortstop Neifi Perez.

Just as he did the past two seasons with shortstop Mark Grudzielanek in Montreal, Lansing, a former shortstop, will try to assist Perez, 22, in his first full season in the majors.
