BOULDER -- It will take more than a year to celebrate the 100th birthday of Boulder's Chautauqua Park, which has offered a blend of discussion, recreation and cultural performances.
At the foot of the Flatirons, Chautauqua was established July 4, 1898, and flourished through the 1920s, when the Chautauqua movement - an educational and recreational program of lectures and concerts - numbered 12,000 sites. Today, there are only three.
