LONDON -- More than 200 ``stray'' asteroids more than 0.6 miles in diameter could be roaming the solar system, and some could cross Earth's orbit, scientists reported last week.

In a letter in the latest edition of Nature magazine, scientists from Colorado and Arizona said the asteroids came from the so-called Trojan swarms, two groups of asteroids orbiting the sun at the same distance as Jupiter.
