An unidentified tenant in Republic Plaza has signed a lease for $31 per square foot, the highest office rent paid in the metro area in more than 15 years, officials said on Friday.

The lease for more than a floor in the 1.2 million-square-foot building is the most recent sign of the strength of the downtown office market, said David Morrison, vice president of leasing for Brookfield, the building's owner.
