In a deal aimed at producing a bridge between the European and Asian communications industries, the financing of the Eurasiasat-1 broadcast satellite was successfully closed, paving the way for its manufacture and launch later this year.

Eurasiasat-1, which will use the most modem version of the three-axis stabilized Spacebus 3000 platform, will provide television, telephony, and video data services in Turkey, Europe, and Asia. Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy's Space and Communications Group represented Eurasiasat and Alcatel Spacecom in the closing of the financing.
