STEAMBOAT SPRINGS -- The U.S. nordic combined team has evolved through three generations of development in the past decade. First there was an exciting teen-ager, Ryan Heckman, and an unspectacular veteran supporting cast. Then the talented Todd Lodwick came on the scene, along with Tim Tetreault and Dave Jarrett, but Heckman retired before his prime.

Now Tetreault and Jarrett have retired. That leaves Lodwick and a bunch of talented youngsters - all of them acutely aware that U.S. Skiing expects big things out of them ...
