A New Pegmatite Mineral Locality
The Estes quarry in southwestern Maine exposes a granite pegmatite hosting more than forty mineral species. This locality contains a suite of phosphates similar to those of other highly mineralized pegmatites in Maine and New Hampshire. The quarry has yielded fine specimens of eosphorite, fairfieldite, montebrasite, roscherite, and vivianite.
