US Presidential hopeful George W. Bush's campaign was thrown into disarray today when it was revealed he had been a drink-driver.

Bush pleaded guilty nearly 25 years ago to drink-driving, his presidential campaign said after news organisations received copies of the 1976 police report.

'It's not something he's proud of,' spokesman Mindy Tucker said, explaining why Bush had not come forward with the information on his own.
