Styrene margins are healthy despite pressure from benzene's pricing runup.
BENZENE PRICES are solid at around $1.50 per gallon as energy costs continue to escalate and demand stays healthy. No signs of a weakening are evident despite normalizing market fundamentals after a second quarter plagued by capacity crunches and delivery delays.
As recently as late July, analysts expected falling demand from the styrene market, coupled with the return of swing plants to full output, to weaken benzene prices significantly. Instead, the energy complex began to sizzle. ...
