BULAWAYO
A SLOWER clock seems to tick in Bulawayo than in Zimbabwe's capital, Harare. In some ways, it is still the 1950s there. The streets are clean and orderly, the traffic manageable. Whereas the capital is increasingly grubby and decrepit, Bulawayo keeps its Victorian and Art Deco buildings in a beautiful state of preservation, a reminder of the years when it was the most important city in the country.
