SK Chemical won the nation's first award for developing a new drug yesterday in recognition for its next-generation medicine to treat stomach cancer.

The Korea Drug Research Association (KDRA) presented the Korea New Drug Award to the pharmaceutical arm of the SK Group for ``heptaplatin,'' a platinum complex drug which has proved highly effective in fighting cancer.
