Taegu's efforts to become an international fashion mecca officially began yesterday with a ``Milan Project'' declaration ceremony at the metropolitan city's main stadium.
The Milan Project will run on a total budget of 680 billion won over the coming five years to make the once textile city into the Korean version of Italy's Milan.
Mayor Moon Hee-gab said, ``Marking the first year of the Milan Project, Taegu is eager to let it be known worldwide that the city will take strides to become an international textile and fashion city.''
