In his first postprimary campaign swing, U.S. Sen. Rod Grams drove his trademark tractor through throngs of rural Minnesotans attending the city's Turkey Days Festival on Saturday and otherwise kept to soft-sell politics.
In a 90-second speech, the Republican senator skipped ideological politics and read from a list of Top 10 reasons why a turkey race is preferable to a political race, including "when turkeys race, you actually have something to cheer about."
