L.A. artist Carter Potter transforms detritus into eloquent abstractions. His minimalist, formally intriguing "Film Paintings"-- the work for which he is best known--remain fresh by keeping a toehold in funk. In his first U.K. exhibition, the less pristine edges of his work were happily evident in a group of "Film Paintings" as well as two works derived from furnishings abandoned on Hollywood streets.
