Fond farewell St. Catherine's parish will miss Father Mike.(Neighbor)

The community room at St. Catherine of Sienna Church in West Dundee is no longer called the community room.

Instead, people refer to it as the Rev. W. Michael McKinstra, or "Father Mike," community room.

According to parishioners of the church, the new name is most appropriate.

During McKinstra's 13 years with St. Catherine of Siena, he dedicated himself to making the church a people's parish.

"He was an open-hearted man and everyone that came here felt welcome," said parish secretary Carol Lutzow. "He has a true gift and is a very holy man."
