Indonesian vice president Megawati Sukarnoputri won new powers to manage the country and took over the new cabinet last week, but President Abdurrahman Wahid may have handed her a poisoned chalice. The new cabinet contains no senior members of either Megawati's Indonesian Party of Struggle, or Golkar, the two parties that hold a 70 percent majority in the National Assembly. Wahid had promised to consult Megawati on the decision, but she did not attend the announcement of the lineup. "Megawati's gone home to take a bath," he told reporters.
